Cody Yearton

Coach Cody is originally from Joliet, IL, but has lived in Georgia for about 11 years now. He began Brazilian jiu-jitsu in 2008 and is currently a purple belt working towards his brown belt. He says his favorite part of BJJ is that it, “helps fuel my competitive spirit and helps to develop my core values as a martial artist.” He has competed in and won multiple BJJ competitions and is also currently holding a winning record in Mixed Martial Arts! Additionally, he free-style wrestled from 4 years old through his freshman year in college.

He only recently began teaching martial arts, but is thrilled at the opportunity to gain a new perspective on the sport. As it turns out, teaching is a requirement to achieve the rank of brown belt in BJJ. His favorite thing about coaching so far is making a positive difference in a someone’s life by being a good role model and a great and memorable teacher.

Off the mat, Coach Cody is a certified lifeguard and an eagle scout. He is also an avid hiker and swimmer. He volunteers to give back to the community by helping with fundraisers for veterans and the homeless. However, he says, “Ultimate Youth Sports is my favorite place to be whether I am working or training!”
